Is it safe to connect my bank account?

Yes. DayGist uses Plaid to connect to your bank — the same service used by Venmo, Robinhood, Cash App, and thousands of other financial apps. Over 100 million people have connected accounts through Plaid. Your bank login credentials are handled entirely by Plaid and are never transmitted to or stored by DayGist. Our pass-through architecture means we fetch your balances, text them to you, and immediately discard the financial data.

What data does DayGist actually store?

Only the minimum needed to operate: your phone number, timezone preference, and an encrypted connection token that lets us retrieve your balances each morning. We do NOT store your bank credentials, account numbers, balances, or transaction history. Financial data is discarded immediately after your daily text is sent.

Which banks are supported?

DayGist supports most major US banks and credit unions through Plaid, including Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One, Citi, US Bank, and thousands more. During signup, you'll see whether your bank is supported when you connect through Plaid's secure interface.

Can I cancel anytime?

Absolutely. Cancel anytime by replying STOP to any DayGist text. There are no cancellation fees and no questions asked. Your service continues through the end of your current billing period, and no refunds are issued for partial periods. When you cancel, we disconnect your bank accounts and delete your encrypted tokens.

What happens if my bank connection stops working?

Sometimes banks require re-authentication — for example, if you change your password or your bank updates its security. If this happens, we'll let you know in your daily text message with a link to quickly reconnect. It usually takes about 30 seconds.

Why text messages instead of an app?

Because you already check your texts dozens of times a day. We don't want to be another app you download, try once, and forget. A daily text meets you where you already are — no logins, no notifications to enable, no updates to install. Just glance at it and move on with your day.

No. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or financial information with any third party for marketing or advertising purposes. Period. Our revenue comes entirely from subscription fees.

You can request complete data deletion at any time by emailing privacy@getdaygist.com. We will disconnect all bank connections, delete your encrypted tokens and account information, and confirm deletion within 30 days.

Are the balances in real-time?

DayGist shows your available balance as reported by your bank through Plaid. Balances may be delayed by up to 24 hours and may not reflect pending transactions, recent deposits, or holds. For the most current information, check directly with your bank.
