Common Issues
I didn't receive my daily text
Check that your phone has signal and that you haven't accidentally replied STOP. You can also verify your delivery preference in your account settings. If the issue persists, email support@getdaygist.com.
My bank connection stopped working
Sometimes banks require re-authentication — for example, if you change your password. When this happens, we include a reconnect link in your daily text. You can also reconnect at any time from your dashboard. It usually takes about 30 seconds.
I want to change my delivery time
Log in to your account settings and update your preferred send time. Changes take effect the next morning.
I want to switch from text to email (or vice versa)
Your delivery preference is in your account settings. Toggle between SMS and email anytime.
How does the 15-day free trial work?
New users get a 15-day free trial. A valid payment method is required to start, but your card is not charged until day 16. You can cancel any time during the trial and you won't be billed. If you were referred by a friend, your trial is extended to 30 days.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Reply STOP to any DayGist text, or cancel from your account settings. There are no cancellation fees. Your service continues through the end of your current billing period — for example, if you cancel on day 5 of a monthly plan, you still have access for the remaining 25 days.
Do you offer refunds or prorate unused time?
No. DayGist subscriptions are non-refundable, and we do not prorate or credit partial billing periods, plan changes, or early cancellations. You retain full access through the end of your current paid period, after which the subscription simply ends. This is covered in Section 6 of our Terms of Service.
What happens when I text STOP?
You get a 7-day window to change your mind. Here’s exactly what happens:
- Daily texts stop immediately. You won’t receive another message unless you reply START.
- Billing is paused — you won’t be charged. Any renewal during the 7-day window is skipped.
- Your accounts stay connected during the 7 days, so resuming is instant.
- Reply START within 7 days and your service picks up the next morning. Billing resumes on your normal schedule.
- After 7 days with no reply, your subscription is canceled, your bank connections are disconnected, and your account data is deleted (TCPA consent records are retained for 5 years as required by law).
How do I delete all my data?
You can request complete data deletion at any time from your account settings or by emailing privacy@getdaygist.com. We disconnect all bank connections, delete your encrypted tokens and account information, and confirm deletion within 30 days. TCPA consent records are retained for 5 years as required by law.
My payment failed — what happens?
If we can't charge your card on file, we'll text you with a link to update your payment method. Your account enters a 7-day grace period during which your daily texts continue. If payment isn't resolved in that window, your subscription is paused until you update billing. Manage your payment method from your account settings.
Where can I find my invoice or receipt?
Reply INVOICE to any DayGist text and we'll send a link to your most recent invoice. You can also access full billing history from your account settings.
How do I add, remove, or rename a bank account?
Manage your connected banks from your dashboard. You can connect additional banks, disconnect existing ones, and customize display names for each account. Display names appear in your daily text, so use whatever labels make sense to you — like "Joint Checking" or "Travel Card."
How many banks and accounts can I connect?
The base plan supports up to 3 bank connections and 5 total accounts across checking, savings, and credit cards. Need more? Reach out at support@getdaygist.com.
The balance in my text doesn't match my bank app
DayGist shows your available balance as reported by your bank through Plaid. Pending charges and payments can take 1–3 business days to settle, and balances may not yet reflect them. Credit card payments are the most common case — most issuers wait until the payment fully clears before restoring your available credit, so a payment made Friday may not show up until Monday or Tuesday. This is the issuer's policy, not a DayGist delay. For the most current information, check directly with your bank. DayGist should not be used for time-sensitive financial decisions.
Can I skip weekends?
Yes. In your account settings, choose "Weekdays only" to receive your daily text Monday through Friday and skip Saturday and Sunday.
My timezone is wrong
Update your timezone from your account settings. DayGist uses your timezone to send the text at the local time you prefer — changes take effect the next morning.
I got a new phone number
Email support@getdaygist.com from the email address on your DayGist account. Include your old and new phone numbers and we'll update your account after verifying your identity.
I can't log in to my account
DayGist uses SMS-based authentication — there's no password to remember. Enter your phone number at getdaygist.com/login and we'll text you a verification code. If you've lost access to your phone number, email support@getdaygist.com for account recovery.
Can my spouse or partner share my DayGist account?
No. Each DayGist account is tied to a single phone number and individual user. If you and a partner both want daily balance texts — including for shared accounts — each person needs to sign up for their own DayGist subscription and connect the bank(s) they want to see. This is covered in our Terms of Service (one account per person).
Is DayGist financial advice?
No. DayGist is a financial awareness tool, not a financial advisor. We provide your account balances for informational purposes only. We do not make investment, spending, or saving recommendations. Always consult a qualified financial professional for financial advice.
