Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about DayGist — your daily bank balance summary, delivered by text.

Security & Privacy

Yes. DayGist uses Plaid to connect to your bank — the same service used by Venmo, Robinhood, Cash App, and thousands of other financial apps. Over 100 million people have connected accounts through Plaid. Your bank login credentials are handled entirely by Plaid and are never transmitted to or stored by DayGist.

Only the minimum needed to operate: your phone number, timezone preference, and an encrypted connection token that lets us retrieve your balances each morning. We do NOT store your bank credentials, account numbers, balances, or transaction history. Financial data is discarded immediately after your daily text is sent.

No. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or financial information with any third party for marketing or advertising purposes. Period. Our revenue comes entirely from subscription fees.

All sensitive data is encrypted using AES-256 encryption. Encryption keys are managed through AWS Key Management Service (KMS) with automatic key rotation. All data in transit is protected with TLS 1.2 or higher. Your Plaid connection tokens are encrypted at rest and decrypted only momentarily to fetch your daily balances.

You can request complete data deletion at any time from your account settings or by emailing privacy@getdaygist.com. We will disconnect all bank connections, delete your encrypted tokens and account information, and confirm deletion within 30 days.

How It Works

DayGist connects to your bank accounts through Plaid, fetches your current balances each morning, formats them into a clean summary, and texts it to you at your chosen time. The entire process is automated — you just open your messages.

Yes — that is exactly what DayGist does. It texts you one message every morning with the balances of every account you connect: checking, savings, and credit cards, across different banks. Your own bank's text banking only covers that one bank; DayGist puts all of your accounts in a single daily text.

DayGist supports most major US banks and credit unions through Plaid, including Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One, Citi, US Bank, and thousands more. During signup, you'll see whether your bank is supported when you connect through Plaid's secure interface.

Because you already check your texts dozens of times a day. We don't want to be another app you download, try once, and forget. A daily text meets you where you already are — no logins, no notifications to enable, no updates to install. Just glance at it and move on with your day.

Yes. In your account settings, you can switch your delivery preference from SMS to email. Your daily balance summary will be sent to your email address each morning instead of via text message.

DayGist shows your available balance as reported by your bank through Plaid. Pending charges and payments can take 1–3 business days to settle, and balances may not yet reflect them — especially for credit card payments, where most issuers wait until the payment clears before restoring available credit. For the most current information, check directly with your bank.

Sometimes banks require re-authentication — for example, if you change your password or your bank updates its security. If this happens, we'll let you know in your daily text message with a link to quickly reconnect. It usually takes about 30 seconds.

Yes. The base plan supports up to 3 bank connections and 5 total accounts. You can connect checking accounts, savings accounts, and credit cards from different banks, and they'll all appear in one consolidated daily text. Need more? Reach out at support@getdaygist.com.

Yes. When you connect a bank, you can customize the display names for each account. These names appear in your daily text, so you can use whatever labels make sense to you — like "Joint Checking" or "Travel Card."

Billing & Cancellation

DayGist is $3.75/month billed annually at $44.99/year (save 25%), or $4.99/month billed monthly. Both plans include a 15-day free trial. Your card is not charged until day 16.

Absolutely. Cancel anytime by replying STOP to any DayGist text, or from your account settings. There are no cancellation fees and no questions asked. Your service continues through the end of your current billing period.

No. DayGist is a financial awareness tool, not a financial advisor. We provide your account balances for informational purposes only. We don't make investment, spending, or saving recommendations. Always consult a qualified financial professional for financial advice.

When you cancel, we disconnect your bank accounts and delete your encrypted connection tokens. Your account information is removed within 30 days. TCPA consent records are retained for 5 years as required by law.
