Bank text alerts vs. one text for all your banks

Your bank's text alerts cover the accounts at that bank. DayGist sends one text message each morning with the balance of every account you connect, even when they're at different banks and credit unions. Access is read-only through Plaid, and balances aren't stored. $4.99/month or $44.99/year.

If all your money is at one bank, use your bank's alerts. They're free and they do the job.

What bank text alerts do

Big banks can text you about your accounts. Three examples, as each bank describes its alerts on its own website (October 2026):

Chase

Account alerts by email, text, or push notification, including balance amounts and an alert when your balance falls below a limit you set or goes overdrawn.

Bank of America

Balance alerts by text, email, or app notification, set up in Alert Settings in Online Banking or the app.

Wells Fargo

Low-balance, deposit, and payment-due alerts by email, text, or push. Texting BAL ALL to its text-banking number returns the balances of your enrolled Wells Fargo accounts.

Chase and Bank of America say they don't charge for alerts, though your carrier's message and data rates may apply. Every one of them covers its own accounts only.

Where alerts stop: more than one bank

If you have checking at one bank, savings at another, and a credit card somewhere else, bank alerts mean three setups, three senders, and three kinds of messages. A low-balance alert only fires when a balance crosses a line you picked, so on a normal day you may hear nothing and still not know where you stand.

DayGist is one message, every morning, with every balance in it:

What the daily text looks like: three banks, one message. More on getting your bank balance by text.

You can use both

Bank alerts are good at one thing: telling you right away when something happens. DayGist does a different thing: one look at everything, once a day. It sends no low-balance or transaction alerts, so if you count on those, leave them on. Here's everything else DayGist deliberately doesn't do.

Common questions

Can I get one text with the balances from all my banks?

Yes. DayGist sends one text each morning with the balance of every account you connect, across different banks and credit unions. The base plan covers up to 3 bank connections and 5 accounts.

Does DayGist replace my bank's low-balance alerts?

No. DayGist sends one text a day and nothing in between. If you rely on a low-balance or overdraft alert, keep it on at your bank. The two don't conflict.

Can DayGist move money or see my bank login?

No. Connections are read-only through Plaid, and your bank login goes to Plaid, not to DayGist. After your text is sent, the balances are discarded. They are never stored.
